India is the fastest growing mobile phone market in the world. The booming telecom industry has been attracting large amount of investments in the country. The number of telephone subscriber base in the country reached 671.69 million as on June 30, 2010 from 653.92 million in May 2010, as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Subscriber Base: 256.80 million (as of July 2016) Owned By Sunli Bharti Mittal’s Bharti Enterprises, and Singaporean telecommunications company SingTel. Airtel is one of the first and certainly most popular Telecom Operator in India.
Subscriber Base: 200.47 million (as of August 2016) Owned by Vodafone Group, One of the largest Mobile Network Operator in India. Group bought Hutch Essar’s business in 2007 and in next few years made it Top 5 Biggest Mobile Netowork Operators in India. As of now it ranks second in country.
Subscriber Base: 160.08 million (as of June 2015) owned by Kumar Mangalam Birla led Aditya Birla Group owns majority stake in Idea which ranks third in India. Idea is a pan- India integrated GSM operator offering 2G,3G and 4G mobile services.
Subscriber Base: 98.70 million (as of june 2016) Crore Owned by Anil Ambani’s Reliance ADAG group which was among Top 3 few years back but lost its customer base by a significant margin. Reliance Communication is often credited for bringing Mobile phone in common man’s hand.
Subscriber Base: 9 Crore State Owned Mobile Network Operator having most of its customer base in North and Central India.
Subscriber Base: 83.05 million Aircel is owned by Malaysian Telecom giant Maxis Communications. Aircel was founded by C Sivasankaran and commenced operations in Tamil Nadu in 1999. Company has huge customer base in Tamil Nadu, where it is number one operator. Another region where Aircel has huge subscriber base is North Eastern state and Odisha.
Subscriber Base: 6 Crore Indian Conglomerate Tata and Leading Japan’s NTT Docomo owns Tata Docomo which failed to made huge impact in India after blockbuster debut in 2011. NTT Docomo later sold the stake in firm to Tata which was rejected by RBI and now the matter is in International Court.
Subscriber Base: 50.72 million (as of 2015) Telenor is owned by Norway Based Telenor group and operates in 7 States of India. Company targets mostly Youths with its various flexible plans.
Subscriber Base: 50 Crore Jio is owned by Richest Person In India Mukesh Ambani through Biggest Indian Company Reliance Industries. With in one month of its operation Jio acquired 1 Crore Subscribers offering Free Calls, SMS, Roaming and 4G Data to its user for three months. Even after that Jio has announced that they will charge only for Data which will be cheapest in world.
Subscriber Base: 75 Lakh MTS which was acquired by Reliance Communication in January 2016 is 10th Biggest Mobile Network Operator in India as of June 2016.
